Aspire 5100 user desperate for USB help

Thread Starter
I am having problems with USB ports not working (especially left one) and orbicam dying. I have 1.1, 1.1, and 2.0 drivers installed. I have found that disabling the 2.0 drivers makes the webcam work, and most of the USB issues go away. It seems to be some kind of strange interaction between the webcam and usb 2.0 drivers. I have both XP and Vista installed on 2 seperate partitions. The problem exists in both operating systems, so it seems like it could be a Bios issue or something (even though I have the latest bios update). The strange thing is is that everything was working perfectly when I first got my system and started going downhill when my Webcam became unknown device.

I have been dealing with this issue for months now and not having working USB 2.0 ports is very annoying. Any1 have any ideas? I know of people having similar problems. I am lost as to what to do to solve this problem because I have done almost everything to try to fix the issue. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the USB drivers many times.

TIA

try a complete reinstall. if that fails, sounds like a USB controller failure. Will require a new mainboard.
