Can't connect wirelessly anymore!

Thread Starter
I just bought my HP laptop a few days ago from Best Buy and it connected to the net through my belkin router with no trouble. I tried to set up a network through my desktop so I could snare some of the files from it for my laptop, and I don't know how I did it but suddenly my laptop won't connect through wireless! I set up a network on it before to trade files between computers hooked up to the router, but that network was gone for some reason.

The only way I can get on the net with my laptop is if I plug an ethernet cord into it. When I search for a wireless connection it still shows the belkin router, but now it has an excalamation mark over the icon and it says its an unsecured network with limited activity. I can connect to it but I can't get on the net.

The computer I set the network up with is an XP and my laptop is a vista, if that has anything to do with it. But it worked perfect before I started messing with this networking stuff,

I'm thinking it had something to do with trying to set up the new network, but I have no idea how to fix this. Can anyone help? Part of the reason I bought this incredible little machine is to connect wirelessly in my house.

it sounds from the red mark over the network like your wireless receiver may be turned off. i know, i know you probably checked it but i bring it up just in case. make sure you havent accidentally turned off the wireless card in your laptop.

if thats not it, try resetting the modem and router. maybe some of the settings on your router have changed are causing connectivity issues. sometimes if you just unplug the router and modem at the same time, and wait for the modem to cycle, them plug the router back in, it will help to alleviate the problem. sometimes not.

You MAY have inadvertantly changed a setting on the router that powercycling cant reset. in that case, you will have to go in and wire to the router and check your settings to fix things.

good luck. let us know how it works out, and if you have any other info, please feel free to post.

2.- Inicio  Ejecutar : Services.msc
a) Ubicar servicio: configuración automática WLAN
b) Propiedades  Controlador : Detener servicio, esperar 3 a 5 segundos y luego Iniciar Servicio

The above is translated as:

I do not try to be an expert in I compute nor to be a connoisseur of the absolute truth, but the desperation I take to make an investigation in the cause of the problem. After making manifold tests, I found a form to recover the operation of my wireless card and to detect the origin of the cause of the problem. (I do not know if this works for the common one of the users, it would be question to suggest the probable solution, at least of that way is no necessity to reinitiate the equipment to recover the functions of the wireless card)
The DV6220la model uses a “standard Bridge PCI to PCI” where it goes exactly connected the wireless card Mini PCI-x, this bridge or the BIOS apparently is not controlling suitably the states of energy or resources of interruption of the system.
When one observes in the properties of this device “energy states” one observes the definition of how it must administer to this device the energy in the S1 state and S2 (suspension and Hibernación) has by defect the state of “Stranger” (therefore, the true culprit of all this generalized problem is the referred Bridge PCI or the Driver that administers it)
The problem is solved in one or two passages according to as the equipment I enter the state of suspension or Hibernación:
SOLUTION: (temporary)
1. - Acceding to the administrator of devices.
a) Expanding “Devices of system”
b) Deshabilitando and qualifying solely the device “standard Bridge PCI PCI to PCI” (in my case it is third in the list, where one is connected the wireless card, the memory directions agree with the directions of memory of wireless card WLAN Broadcom)
In most of the cases this only action it reactivates the wireless card immediately (it ignites the LED in Blue) and reactivates the Wireless networking automatically assigned by defect.
Of not happening the re-connection of radio network automatically (red X in the NETWORK ICON) but one is ignited the wireless card (LED in blue) then the following step is:
2. - Beginning  Ejecutar: Services.msc
a) To locate service: automatic configuration WLAN
b) Properties  Controller: To stop service, to hope 3 to 5 seconds and soon To initiate Service I believe that this it is a problem that can be solved easily by an update of version of drivers. This I work myself in Windows Vista Home Premium and Vista Ultimate

Somebody can translate this to the English so that half of the humans understands it?
