Toshiba M100 Screen Failing - pressing the display cover helps, suggestions?

Toshiba Satellite M100 - PSMA0A-03F002

The LCD screen on this laptop has been slowly deteriorating. Initially the screen would flicker for a few seconds and then correct itself but now the only way to view what is on the screen is to apply pressure to the plastic of the display cover above the lcd screen.

To start with just pressing and releasing there seemed to fix it but now the only way to actually use the screen is to use clips to apply constant pressure to the top (otherwise I have to use 2 hands to press on it).

Strangely though the screen appears to work perfectly once the pressure is applied so I'm wondering what has failed and have not clue, any genius out there want to offer a suggestion?? please!

Ordinarily I would return it under warranty but it was purchased in late July 2007 from a computer fair and toshiba are saying from the part number and serial number that the year warranty is up and the company I bought it from isn't getting back to me, plus they're in Australia, I'm in the UK!! So a self fix may be needed, any help, any suggestions, most welcome!!

If you have your original sales reciept (proof of purchase) you should still be covered under the 1 yr warranty offered by Toshiba
