I hope you have more luck than I. Mine just went back to HP to have a corrupted power on password removed.
Like you - I tried everything! I let the thing sit for 5 days in the desperate hope it would drain enough charge off whatever is storing that password to clear it.
If HP fixes it - I sure hope they tell me what they did - not holding my breath.
Good luck.

This works on a compaq N600c
Clearing a Password
If the notebook you are servicing has an unknown password,
follow these steps to clear the password. These steps also
clear CMOS.
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (remove hard drive 1 screw ,unclip dvd drive remove battery, remove keyboard clip tabs by f1,f5,f9,f12

information).
2. Remove the RTC battery (remove cover to the left of the touch pad lift it 90 degrees to the front, disconnect the white plug on the clock battery
).
3. Wait approximately five minutes.
4. Replace the RTC battery and reassemble the computer.
5. Connect AC power to the computer. Do
not reinsert any
battery packs at this time.
6. Turn on the computer.

All passwords and all CMOS settings have been cleared.

I FIGURED IT OUT!!!
Bit of luck really, but what your stinking HP technician does to clear the bios (power-on password etc) is simply this:
Remove laptop battery, power supply and BIOS battery
Plug in the power cable
turn on laptop
you should find the BIOS is reset.
Well, it worked for me
Good luck to you all

Did you plug in the BIOS battery BEFORE you turned on the power? I have tried to reset my Power On Password and nothing works.

Right now I cannot boot past the Xp splash window. When the Xp splash starts it runs for a second and then the NC6320 goes back to a

restart condition.

I can't remember exactly, I suspect I put the laptop back together (ie plugged in the BIOS battery) and then plugged in the power and turned it on!
Are you sure it's a BIOS issue? It sounds like a corrupted boot file. Have you tried booting in Safe Mode?

First, Thanks for your fast reply on my problem. I don't know if it's a BIOS problem. I did try to start my HP

NC6320 in the Safe Mode. I see several lines of drivers installation and then all stops at the bottom of the screen

and then waits for a few seconds, then it returns to the start of the Boot Up sequence. In other words it behaves like the

normal boot sequence, including the re-boot before it reaches the Safe Mode window.

I hope this answers your question.

I have the same problem as you had. I can't seem to get past the Xp splash screen. I cannot get this

computer to get into the Safe Mode either.

How did you make out with HP fixing this problem? Did they fix it? If so, can you give me an idea how much they

charged to fix the problem?

Sounds to me like a software issue.
If you press F8 to go into safe mode just before it boots up, you should be able to choose an option something to the effect of "disable automatic restart on system failure", that will allow you to see the Blue-Screen-Of-Death which will give you a clue (not much of one) as to what's wrong. If you can post that info herewe might be able to help you (or google it yourself) .

Do you have critical files you need to get off the laptop?
If so, You could put your XP cd in and boot of that, then choose the Repair windows option (not the recovery console). That will reinstall windows, but leave all the programs and your files in tact. If you're unsure, ask.
If you don't have files you need, then do a clean install.

Again thanks for your reply. I don't have the Recovery disc set for the NC6320. I have made contact with the

original Ebay seller to see if he would be willing to sell me copies of the Recovery Disc Set, if he has them.

If he doesn't have them I will try HP (good luck) for the same. When I finally resolve this I will let you know how it all

comes out. If you have any further ideas please let me know.

As doolz stated above, you would not need the recovery disk set - just pick up a copy of the XP version that you are using, put it in and run the repair option.

cheers ...

OK. I am now trying to get the URL or phone number of HP Xp Recovery DISC with the "Repair" routine included. As soon as I get

the same, I will follow your suggestion for the boot up problem.

Thanks for your advise.
