Battery Light Flashing Orange

I have a dell inspiron 6400 with a core duo. I just turned it on today for the first time in maybe 4 days or so. Before I did I noticed the battle charging light was flashing organge the the light in the middle was also flashing orange.

The lights I am talking about are the ones on the top right of the keyboard, just under the screen. The battery meter says full and I had it plugged in for that time. Anyone know what this means?

It means either the battery is bad (which is possible despite what the fuel gauge says) or that your motherboard can no longer communicate with the battery. If the battery is less than a year old Dell will replace it with another one. If the new battery does not fix it then it's the motherboard.

Well, I just took out the battery for 5min and still same result. I should give Dell a call then?

My battery light flashed orange the other day but it was the first time i let it get down to 7% power left, charging it up made the light green. I'd think that if your light is constantly flashing orange then there maybe something wrong with the charging circuit

i have the same problem, except for the light only flashes orange on ONE of my batteries and not the other....that tells me it's the battery

Go into your BIOS and under batter it should say "This battery is performing normally" or something else if its screwed
