I have the Airgo mimo card, and it's rock solid.

Yes I had those same exact issues, I ended up buying an Atheros card and have been happy ever since.

I moved my router's frequency up to channel 6 from channel 1 out of 10 channels and problem seems to have gone away

I unfortunately didn't order the Airgo card. I have had some issues with the wireless on the standard card being spotty. I was going to call AW and just upgrade to the Airgo card when I saw this and decided to buy it instead.

Well I received the ASUS MIMO wireless card last night and installed it in my m9700. WOW what a difference. Windows shows my connection at 126Mbps and while that probably isn't terribly accurate it beats the heck out of the 54 i had before. I also can tell a big difference in the range of the card. I used to pick up 1 or 2 other routers in my neighborhood, now I pick up 5 or 6. Also the signal strength is better in the spots in the house where I usually use it. Well worth $50.

That sounds like a good investment. I currently have the regular wireless card without MIMO and I cant get jack of a connection in my own house!

I also looked into the possibility of frequency overlap and changed my modem to run on channel 6 as well and haven't had a single drop from connectivity.

MIMO cards have multiple antennas, so better range and signal strength, as well as speed should result.

I have the airgo mimo card AW has as an option in the m9700, and it's very stable, strong signal. It shows 54Mbps unless I'm using my mimo router over my LAN, then it bumps up to 108.

I also pick up routers up to three blocks away. I know this because one guy listed his address as his router name.

I've seen a few posts that didn't like the standard card. Some people here bought an Atheros based card on eBay and it works much better.

You might consider calling AW customer service and ask what they charge for the mimo card as an upgrade. Not sure where else to look for miniPCI wireless cards other than eBay, and I hate eBay...
