Where Would I Purchase An MXM Video Card From?

Thread Starter
Just wondering where I purchase an MXM video card from. I have searched online and come up empty. A link to a site that sells them would be excellent, even if my laptop can't use the 8 series cards from Nvidia.

I have an M5550, and was wondering if the 8 series cards would be in mxm so my laptop can use DX10. Currently using the go7600.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

http://www.mxm-upgrade.com/ sells some, but you currently have the latest MXM card for the m5550.

The x1800 runs too, actually

Hot, but it runs.

the x1800 runs hot? I've never heard that before and I personally think my Superman runs cooler than most laptops I've seen..

I think a lot of distributors sell MXM cards... but I haven't found a place. I'm also interested in a 8600M GT upgrade for my 5550. I heard if you call alienware, you might be able to get one (once they have them...).

I did call Alienware a coupla nites ago hoping a Go 7700 512MB (or 8xxx series) would be available for the m5550...nope not from Alienware I was told to find one on the net and help meself...on my own...

Of course a lotta exciting models are about to debut...

I think you may have missed the fact that this is a x1800 in a 15.4" notebook.

Im a little confused! thats normal! ha ha ha!

The x1800 is a type 3 card and the 7600go is a type 2. I don't really see how the x1800 will fit into a type 2 slot.

Please can somebody elaborate on this topic please?

The 7600 is a Type II card, but the 5550 has a Type III slot. To be precise: it has the same motherboard as the 5750.

No.

For your information: I have the FSC equivalent of that notebook and have run it with a x1400, 7600, 7900, x1800 and x1900.
