What D610 Mods and Upgrades are available?

I recently picked up a really cheap D610. I'm wondering what mods/hacks are available for this model. I'm new to this forum and did do a search but am a bit overwhelmed. I'm looking for any and all upgrades particularly motherboard swaps. I think the one in it now has some issues so if I gotta buy a new one might as well upgrade if I can. Other than that max Ram? Best DVD Burner? Graphics option? Processor? Etc...

Right now the specs are a 1.86Ghz Pentium M proc. 1Gb memory (think its 2 512mb sticks becasuse it says dual channel mode in the bios, but I haven't looked yet). Intel 915GM Graphics. DVDROM/CDRW, 14"XGA, 60GB HD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you swap motherboards try to find one with the X300 dedicated gpu. It's typically listed as an "M22 64 VRAM" or such feature. Everything else is modular. You could buy a slower fsb dothan and pinmod it, max ram is 2GB, best dvd burner is probably the nec 6500a. It should be able to take a 14" SXGA+ lcd (1400x1050) if the XGA doesn't have enough real estate for you. It takes PATA drives up to 140GB in size, and could carry a second one in the d-bay with the proper mounting kit on ebay. I think that covers it.

Some of that I kinda figured out by doing some more reading. Good to know about the burner. What is this pin-mod thing I keep hearing about? Is it just taking a slower proc and increasing the FSB to run faster? From what I found yesterday I believe it will run Core Duo Yonahs so think that will be my route there.

If I swap it out for another 610 board I guess that is what I'll aim for but my main question I guess though will any other MB from any other models fit in there? Forget 600 of course only thinking of stuff that will be better than the 610. What about a D620 board or well pretty much any model?

No Core Duos on the D610. The D610 uses the i915PM chipset which is NOT DUAL CORE COMPATIBLE. The sockets aren't even interchangable. The Dual core support starts with the Dx20's.

Whats the part number for the radeon based mb. Everyone I ask on ebay seems pretty clueless as to which graphics thier boards have.

Pinmod trick is for 400 fsb cpus. So you'd sell your 1.86/533 and buy a 1.6/400 or 1.7/400 for less then what you sold it, then pinmod to 2 or 2.13 ghz.
