connecting my laptop and my tv

Just bought a S-Video Cable for connecting my laptop and TV but its not working. I connected them but im not getting anything on my tv screen.
I put it on component 1 and 2. Is there some sort of mood I need to put on my laptop to make it work?

I have a dell 9200

You're telling the TV to view the Component inputs, you instead need to make sure the TV is on S-Video. Component is not S-Video and vice versa.

Yep, then go into your video settings (right-click desktop-> Properties-> Seetings tab-> Advanced) and you can activate the TV, make it the main display, fiddle with resolution, etc...

Depending on the model of notebook... you hit the "Fn" button plus the DISPLAY key.. mine is the F7 i think... 2 yr old took it and lost the key... still awaiting on the replacement keyboard..

From what I can recall, hitting this key combo has 3 modes...

LCD only
BOth LCD + External Monitor
Ext. Monitor only

Each successive press of the key combo switches to the next mode.

Ensure the tv is on the right MODE... S-Video, then hit the keys....give it a few seconds to show up...
