Question RE: GPU for 5790 (m570ru)

I am interested in a preorder for the 5790. However, I am a 3d animator and modeler and I would use it more for other programs than games. I was actually waiting for a quadro fx series to come out for a Santa rosa laptop and I notice 5790 uses the 7950 GTX. Since the old 5760 uses 7950 GTX and the Quadro FX2500m, do you think i would be able to purchase the 5790 and swap out the 7950 GTX for a FX2500m?

I may be getting either the M570ru or the Asus G1s or G2s, but so far none of them can be swapped for a workstation graphics card. If there isn't any choice of workstation GPU for these laptops then I may go for eithe rthe 7950 GTX or the 8600GT. Which would probably be a better card for mostly softwares such as Maya, 3DSM, photoshop, illustrator, etc etc.

Though I'm not an expert, that makes sense to me. The 5790 comes with a 7950 GTX, and the Quadro 2500 is based off the 7950's little brother, the 7900. It's basically the same card, just optimized for 3D work. It makes sense to me that you should be able to change them, especially since sagernotebooks.com announces that the GPU in the 5790 is user-upgradeable once DX10 hits the scene. Since the 2500 isn't even a jump to DX10, I would think that it would work.

But that's just speculation--I have no experimental evidence to prove that. Make sure you check wattages before you do anything, though.

Since the 5790 uses a MXM-IV graphics module and the 5760 does not you wont be able to swap it out with the Quadro 2500 unless you can find a MXM-IV Quadro and as far as I know the don't make them yet
