OverClocking assistance needed ;)

Hey I need some help with overclocking my notebook . Here are the specs:
Laptop: Sager NP 5760-V
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo Merom T7600 2.33GHz w/ 4 MB cache 667FSB
Graphics: nVidia GO 7950 GTX w/ 512MB
Memory: 2048MB 667 FSB
OS: XP PRO

Well first off, can this even be overclocked, or is it locked and the speed cannot be changed. If it can be OC’ed, are there any specific drivers, utilities, or programs needed to OC my laptop, and do you have any suggestions on which would be the best to download. Also, what levels did you OC to, and what is the normal temp, or safe temp, when overclocking. I don’t know if this helps but my laptop is in a well air-conditioned room with plenty of ventilation space. Thanks

Clockgen for the cpu may or may not work. If it does, it only does a small increase.

There is other software for OC'ing the gpu, don't know atm. It's what would give you the most gains.

Heat is irrelevant for the cpu because you're not going to get much more speed, but very much a problem for the gpu I would think.

is the CPU a T7600G version or a non-G version.....AFAIK the "G" version is th only one that can be o/c'd

Oh yum... big gains from the T7600G http://forum.notebookreview.com/show...t=overclocking If you have that, then you *do* need to worry about heat... as you can see his cpu is throttling because it gets too hot. Clockgen or SetFSB don't care about the cpu, it's the motherboard that determines whether they work or not. They don't give as big a jump as having a T7600G would tho...

I dont think I have the regular T7600. So does that mean I can oc the cpu, even a small amount, or not? And can I use setFSB to overclock the bus speed? Would that make a noticable difference?

There are two methods to OC.

Clockgen/Setfsb oc the bus, which oc's the cpu in turn. Problem is you only get a small gain from that (200mhz?), which may go unnoticed...

T7600G, which lets you change the multiplier. Which lets you get insane overclocks, the only problem being heat. There was an article about somebody running it at 3.16ghz...

Do look up info for your GPU, that matters alot too ya know...

What can I use to OC the gpu? Would ocing the gpu wear the component down?

I dunno...

Heat wears things down. So if you can go faster without going much hotter, you're in the clear.

hmm Okay, I found 2 programs, Rivatuner and coolbits for the GPU. Does anyone know which drivers are the fastest for the nVidia 7950 GTX ? Thanks
