Midnight Blue pictures

Although I'm green with envy over Myrkat's Hybrid Red http://notebookforums.com/showthread...&threadid=1648 , I dooooo love my Midnight Blue 8887X. Here are some pix. The link goes to larger photos, thumbnails of same below. It's a beautiful, deep, Royal (shall we say "Midnight"?) Blue. It has an "orange peel" skin (not a "mirror" finish) that is in the metal design, not the paint.

Anyway, I'm REALLY happy with the color as well as the whole whoppin' machine. It's a maxed 3.06 Ghz (added the HT BIOS), 1GB RAM, twin 60GB 5400 HDDs, and combo DVD, CD-RW for now. Still room to grow.

Great job PCTorque!

SWEET! I am getting a case of the BLUES over your Midnight Blue paint job!

Custom colors are Sweetness!

Do you find yourself just rubbing the palm rests? Admiring the texture? Just looking at your machine, then realizing you should probably turn it on so you can actually use it?

Great pix. Maybe I should re-do my pictorial review and use links instead of inline images...

Adam posted for me and did the thumbnails. I hope that guy feels the personal satisfaction of doing a good job for a good company. From these forums it's obvious many of us appreciate his fine work along with that of PCTorque and Sager.

Well, when I go looking for a replacement for my 8887-X in about 2 years or so (it depends on how soon I can convince the wife that I need a new laptop) PC Torque will be my first stop!

(Now I just have to start wondering what color the next one will be )

You will lose your Sager warranty if you have it taken apart to be painted.

Yeah, some of us lucked out in getting them painted before the policy changed, but at least you're saving $250-300 without paint, making them even cheaper than before from the underpowered competition. I keep seeing those magazine adds for Falcon desktops with American flags and all. Bee-yoo-tiful, for a mere $600+ more!

5660 looks bad??

Just park your 5660 in a net-cafe and see the response...it looks best under yellow/orange tint lighting...

I have a picture of mine somewhere - will post it...I am sure you will agree that the 5660 in stock set up is a looker...

Just put some black paper or a chequered flag imitation under the palmrest if you are a racing fan...

gs is right, the 56xx ain't a bad looking machine... now the 888x... that needs a paint job to beautify, imo.

Yeah, I think the palm rest is the coolest thing that the 56xx series has over the 888x. I just think it would be so cool to be able to customize the wrist pads with a picture on my 8887.

You can always print on a sticker (for color photos) and cut 'em out and stick 'em on... it's a half- attempt, but maybe cheesy enough for some...

Cheezy, did someone say cheezy?

Hey, all some of us got is cheeze. And its still better than nothing. Plus I find the standard paint isnt up to my perspiration and it does get a bit humid here. I'd like to get the whole thing epoxied.

I wonder if *********, PC torque, or some other sager-friendly company can sell transparent or offer selections or custom work for the wrist pads on the different systems.

It would be another good marketing idea for Sager to offer different pads at system selection.

That's a good idea. I wonder if you could order that "part". Also, what about true "skins" that are like applique or something and you lay them on and smooth out the wrinkles. You would want them to stay on, but be removable and replaceable with another design when you got tired of it.

Nope, they all get the laptops or shells from Sager to paint.

What needs to happen is someone should talk to CLEVO before the moldings are cast and have them use transparent plastic beads instead of black/gray ones.

PS: that "other" company does not offer a warranty like Sagers. Folkes buying from "them" are SOL if something goes wrong.

I took the keyboard off mine for the first time last night and you can see from the painted attachment tabs the the laptop had to be complete "gutted" by ********* in order to be painted. This is certainly a risky business on a completely assembled and functional laptop. Seems like it needs to work the other way around, i.e. Clevo or Sager paint the cases BEFORE final assembly, testing, and shipping. From the forums here it looks like there is plenty of demand for eye candy.

This is essentially what PC Torque is about to offer. . . To have a painted laptop WITH Sager's warranty is ideal. Everyone else who has a painted laptop probably has to ABSORB warranty costs, as Sager has excellent grounds NOT to honor their warranty since company "X" disassembled the machine and painted it.

Unless Sager has signed agreements in place with some third party to take the machines apart, paint, and re-assemble. I doubt that, though.

It will definately pay to wait for PC Torque to iron out this painting thing with Sager...

If I could get a paintjob WITH warranty by Sager, that'd be worth more than even VooDoo's high painting price... I'd easily pay an extra $250-$300 (or more, depending on paint quality / options).

There's a lot of man-hours in painting one of these, figure it takes 4 hours start-to-finish in a production environment. It costs the company doing the painting (probably) $75-$100 an hour to operate and make a reasonable profit, so $300 would be acceptable to me...

yeah....

yeah...thats what ill end up doing myself. But ill get my laptop upgraded when its offered, and get it painted at the same time. Its will cost a little, but its worthit, extending the life of my laptop while lookin good! The good thing is, by the time they actually offer the two, ill have enough cashflow for it. Cus i dont forsee them offering the upgrade probablly 1 to 2 months from now.
