OK Question about Mac partitioning

Hey there mac peeps!

now tbh i'm more of a windows person but my mate is all things mac (makes for interesting conversations and or silly arguments we laugh about after...kinda like the mac pc ads lol)

anyways getting to the point....

Now what if i have aquired a copy of Mac OSX Leopard from the WWDC and am going to be in the process of trying to install it (hopfully on a separate partition on the macbook that he has

my question is how would i go about diong this, is it the same as creating a partition on a PC?

any help is greatly appriciated, thanks in advance

Well, I would say that the best way to do this would be to actually download BootCamp since that makes partitioning especially easy. Otherwise, you can use terminal commands to partition the drive within OS X. I think that Disk Utility prevents you from partitioning the startup disk, and since this is a laptop, that means you only have 1 hard drive.

Another thing you can do is to reformat the drive and in the process partition it.

cool, i already installed boot camp for him when he wanted Windows XP on his mac book so i can just use that again, another question is between the two editions (which is why i mentioned what i was doing, would he be able to access files between the 2 partitions, access the and change them like i.e. - a text file, say he was doing an essay, it wouldnt have any adverse effects would it, as im assuming its the same framework between the 2 OS's

IF it is two versions of OS X, then he will be able to share files no problem. If it is Windows and OS X, then he will want to get MacFUSE for OS X (enables write for NTFS partitions) and macDrive for Windows (enables read/write for Mac partitions)
