I have several pieces of software that will shut down if the CPU is worked at or near 100% for more than 4 or 5 minutes. In watching the heat via MobileMeter it reaches 49 to 50 C. Of interest to me, if I unplug the power supply the CPU rating drops to 2.xx & will work at or near 100% until the tasks is done or the battery is dead. & the temp doesn't reach as high. I've cleaned thoroughly & applied AS5 correctly as it will work longer than it originally did when I got it used. Can Coollabaratory Liquid Pro be used in stead of AS5? It warns about Aluminum. I don't know what type of metal the top of the CPU or the bottom of the heat sink are.
On MobileMeter there is a setting when looking at the ACPI temperature tab that indicates that the "Passive Cooling Temperature" is unspecified. Is there a way to specify that if the temperature reaches XX C to reduce the CPU clocking to 3.0 instead of 3.4?
I know these laptops have heat issues. I've managed to get rid of the artifacts by underclocking the Video card. I'm hoping to manage the CPU temp in a similar way.
Any ideas?
