Just ordered today.
I'm curious...
Has anyone given any thought to installing XP on this? Many of my programs don't run on Vista yet and I really don't need the pretty moving pictures. I'd prefer a minimal install of XP Pro.

Would things like the media center and remote control work? HDMI Output? Or would they somehow be linked to Vista.

I will be reinstalling for a dual boot as soon as i get the m1330........I have to have XP PRO because the software package I use to program plc's will not support vista at this time. But all I need is a few basic drivers for the xp boot side to do what I need. I think most of the drivers can be found...I gess I will c.........I hope I don't have to cary two lapetops around or wait for software to catch up with vista.....

Nice!

I can't wait for mine. I got my 4GB DDR-2 on Friday, and shoved it in my M1210 for testing. Seems to work great, though of course XP 32bit only sees 3.25GB.

You not suppose to game with an integrated graphics card silly.

Certainly - an integrated GPU should have no problem running solitare, mine sweeper, hearts, etc.

In order to play the latest 3-D games (at least with much of the eye candy turned on) you need a powerful dedicated GPU. In fact I am a litte concerned that a maxed out M1330 may be just OK in the gaming department - at least compared to some of DELL's other notebook configurations. However the lower resolution screen on the M1330 (compared to a 17" 1920 *1200) should help. If you are looking for a notebook for hard core gaming you may want to look elsewhere i.e. a notebook configured with something like the Go 8600M GT or better.

I bit the bullet! sold the m1210 and order it today. I'm praying that the estimated ship date will change to something alot closer. Month and a half is a very long time.

what is the battery life going to be with the largest battery?

dell says up to 7 hours, but i hardly believe that is true.

can anyone confirm the battery life?

A little OT but from the pictures I've seen with the large(r) battery the m1330 looks kinda strange, with quite a chunk of battery sticking out the back. Personally that kills part of the appeal of having the 1330, which is the sleek look.

Of course, if battery life is paramount then that's a different matter.

I think the 9-cell looks fabulous in there. If you're a hardcore gamer, I'd recommend that 9-cell since it raises the laptop up a little. Very cool. If you're that bothered by it, though, get the 4-cell or 6-cell! Problem sorted! Three battery options = excellent!
still you can have the 4cell for the days you are plugged in. and take with you the 9cell when you are traveling.

anyways. whats the battery time for the 9cell? :

I agree. One reason I do not like the 1330 is that "battery out the back" look. Makes it look cheap imo.

Good grief, people. If you don't like it, don't get the 9-cell! Problem solved! EVERY laptop with an extended battery looks like this. So if you don't like the way the extended battery "extends" the laptop, don't buy ANY laptop. Quite simple! Amazing that these complaints still exist, especially since Dell offers an alternative 6-cell AND a 4-cell to cater to everyone.

And the option to get a 4 cell and 9 cell at the same time. Put the 4 cell in for most stuff and use the 9 cell for long trips..

Well people have the right to be picky about their laptops when they are going to be dropping over 2 grand on one IMO

Some people always find fault. If it wasn't the battery, it would be something else. Actually, they'll probably find something else as well. So far every indication is that the M1330 will be one of Dell's best notebooks up to now.
