I think Arkonis (sp?) Disk Doctor will do the job, but you will need another drive to store the cloned image.

Basically you will want to boot the system into target disk mode (hold 'T' while booting I think) and connect it to another machine via Firewire. Clone the image and then replace it. Do the same thing with the new drive, but this time, put the cloned stuff back onto the new drive.

you mean that i need another machine or external drive for it? Like copying the whole drive on another available machine then replace my machine with new hdd and repaste it back?

Well, ideally you will use another mac. I think that you can use an external though with Akronis, you need to make a boot disc then drop that into your mac (I have only done this once by the way) and boot from it. There, it should detect the external, and you cna clone to it. Then put in the new drive and clone back.

Maybe

An enclosure for the old drive and a copy of SuperDuper!—which does full backups for free, you only have to pay to do smart backups—will do what you want.

Boot from the old drive in the enclosure, load SuperDuper! and tell it to backup the old drive to the new one in the machine.

I use Carbon Copy Cloner: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/13260

However, it is PPC software, so it will run under Rosetta in your MBP.. but hey, it's free and it gets the job done.

A word of caution, don't interrupt the cloning process, or things get icky. Also, if you use a firewire enclosure for your new drive, I believe you can boot from the external hard drive, thus testing to see if the new drive is bootable before you crack open your beautiful computer.
