Question regarding hard drive replacement

Hi people !

I have a 8887 (actually Eurocom) with two hard drives, Fujitsu MHR2020AT 20gb-4200rpm in front, Toshiba MK4019GAX 40 gb-5400rpm in back. I also have two optical drives.

My wish is to remove the 20gb, replace it by the 40gb and buy a brand new 60gb, 7200 rpm drive to put in the place of the 40gb. I'm familiar with this kind of gymnastic

When I bought my system I was told that I couldn't have the 20gb in the back, which I find puzzling since they both have the same dimension.

I found some cheap Hitachi drives (travelstar e7k60-60 and 7k60-60). They are about half the price of what I was quoted from Eurocom. Are they be compatible ? They have the same dimension, and fit a lot of notebooks already, but ours is not listed.

Thanks for your help.

You should be able to put those HDs in either the back (Tv Tuner Area) or the front (under the battery). If you ever decide to replace one of the optical drives with a hard drive you will need the 2nd Bay Bracket that comes with the IC Bridge an Ribbon.

The Hitachi Travelstar is the same drive I was quoted, so it will fit without problem. I was also confirmed the same information about swapping the drives. Thanks
