Even assuming that info is even remotely credible, by all accounts there is a long way to go before what is being beta'd now is really ready for prime time. Just a few (hundred thousand) drivers need to be redone, and perhaps some genuine software to run on it (WinXP 64 is not really designed as a general use OS ..). Its nice to look at 64 bit WinXP through rose colored glasses, but given MS's track record, reality is a bit more stark ... ( .. and Longhorn, the 'real' OS, is out to 2006 now Longhorn ETA ;( )
Sure I'd wager they pop off a premature version for dedicated high end 64 bit apps for the PR, but its going to take Intel going full scale production on a 64 bit general use, cost effective CPU before you see serious migration. That will take some time... in the meantime enjoy a rocking 32 bit world which AMD's 64 bit CPU's seem to handle very very efficiently..
