I havent updated my drivers for my Gen 2's 7800 gtx for a long time now. I am running the 84.56 I believe Dell's version on the site. What drivers are you 7800 gtx owners using these days from laptopvideo2go? There are so many I want the best performance and stability. Thanks a lot!

Ok thanks, what kind of 3d mark score do you get with those drivers? Anyone else?

you have to get the modded inf drivers from a site such as laptopvideo2go.com

Anyone know of any better drivers for 7800GTX and vista? The 165.01 and 158.24 have given me the best I could find (even though they're still a bit slower then in XP).

The scores posted were 440 / 1100 respectively. I just did a bench before I posted. It is a mild overclock at best, I just ran a benchmark before I replied to this and at 400 / 1063 and 3dMark06 score 3750 ish.

The core clock produces the most noticeable change in score, my core maxes out at 490 on 3dmark05 (7900-8000 @490/1300) and 485 on 3dmark06 (4200 @485/1300). Those are benchmark stable, but I don't play games at those frequencies since I live in Los Angeles and the ambient temps here are roughly 90F+ lately.

I got my 92.97 is from X-Treme G's MobileForce M4 Drivers. If you download their drivers, you won't need to download the modded .inf because it is packed into the .exe instead of the usual .inf

You could also you laptopvideo2go.com to get the 97.92 drivers as well as stated above. I've tried a lot of the 100+ series drivers, and while some do have slightly better results (at stock), they seem to lock the clock speeds at stock settings.

I run the most recent Laptop2Go drivers.

Also, on your "GeForce Go 7800GTX (485/1300)", is that stable in games?

As I stated, I don't run games with it due to the heat in Los Angeles as of late. I run that frequency in benchmarks and it runs fine. I've ran games at those frequencies but I don't do it in long periods due to the ambient temps in my apt

My gaming frequencies are 450 / 1200, it at those speeds the temp tops out at 90C and normally floats around the low to mid 80's

If I could just chime in and ask a question. I run my 7800GTX at 440/1200, ran it before at 450/1200 with AS5 of course on both CPU and GPU. Now I have noticed that the heatsink for the GPU isn't that all flat looking, no instead I have some small bumps on it. Doesn't look good at all in my opinion. I have no warranty left so I have thought of another solution to it. I think I could lower my temps much more if I put a mirror finish to this heatsink.

Anyone else have an uneven looking heatsink for the GPU?

My heatsink was pretty smooth. Not perfect, nothing is but good.

I am at stock now on dell's 'official' driver, but don't have any problems and can push to 430/1200 comfortably. 450/1250 and above I start to notice artifacts & such. For me, Far Cry is the game where it appears the first.
