Putting a pc internet card in macbook

I'm going to italy and I'm going to be buying an apple laptop before I go. While doing this I plan on purchasing a verizon wireless internet card so that when I'm in italy I can do work and such on the internet. Is it true the macbook doesn't have a slot for this card? Does the macbook pro have one?

MacBooks have no expansion slots. MacBook Pros have an express card slot.

Are you sure you can use EVDO while in Italy? The MacBooks and MacBook Pros are able to access any standard wireless access point so EVDO might be a waste depending on where you are in Italy, not to mention the cost.

Check here for more info on using EVDO on a Mac http://www.evdoinfo.com/content/view/671/63/

I'm going to be in a rural mountain town, trust me there are no internet hotspots. To be honest I'm not sure if broadband is widely used there either.

have you checked with Verizon to verify that EVDO is available in Italy?

Well if you DO get a regular macbook, and have a bluetooth phone with the Dial-Up-Networking Profile enabled, you can tether to your phone for EVDO access(Currently doing this myself while I am on the road) and save the money of the card. Not great performance, but decent. I get better performance on my linux box using it as a dial up USB modem, but I haven't quite figured out how to force the Mac to do this yet, working on it slowly though.

This of course assumes EVDO is available where you will be.
