Wireless issue

Sorry if the following sounds silly, but here it goes...reinstalled laptop, trying to get wireless working--mind you, I never had used it before. RIght now it is not recognizing the Network adapter that manages the wireless....(big exclamation mark next to it).

I do not even remember which wireless chip it was . So I downloaded the Dell Wireless WLAN package from dell, hit install, and nothing....I bet there is something else missing, some missing step that allows the computer to recognize it has a Wireless adapter.....
Any thoughts? Sorry for the rambling message!

are you sure you don't have the intel wireless and not the dell wireless?

If your computer comes with a "Centrino" sticker, you have a Intel Wireless card.

Hmmm. You are right, it has an INtel centrino duo sticker on it.....so what do you suggest? No problems when I put in an external wireless card through the PCMIA, the Dell Wireless utility AND Windows Wireless manager pick it up right away and I am ready to go, but obviously, would rather use the internal card......ANy suggestions appreciated and thanks!

Like the top poster said.. you have the intel card. I am pretty sure you should have received a Dell Drivers & Utilities CD. Put it in and see what card it picks up and install the drivers.

OR

Go to Dells website and install their utility that lets them "check your computer" for which hardware it has..
which would be here --> http://support.dell.com/support/topi...&~ck=ln&lnki=0

Click on "CURRENT SYSTEM CONFIGURATION" and follow the prompts.
