So with the iphone launch in less than 24 hours, who is going to be picking one up? Who is going to drive down and check one out, and who couldn't care any less.

Discuss.

I doubt that

I am pretty sure they will only have 25 iphones per applestore (due to limited stock) so you better be the 1st 25 people in line otherwise they may send you home

My vote: overhyped

My question: if AT&T isn't going to subsidize the iPhone (and especially if other wireless carriers start to do this also), will they drop their damnable "phone = 2 year contract" crap?

Kaltek: It's true. All full time employes and part time employees who have been working for more than a year will be getting iPhones.

I will check it out first. I hate my current phone. I turn it off constantly because of the terrible placement of the off button. I also hate the camera because it is poorly placed and it uses the battery. I have the latest Nokia color screen phone. Two screens with it. I am not sure of the model without looking at the box. A new contract with it though. I have At&T. I will check out the new thing soon.

pointless and expensive. then again i am a traditionalist who prefers a separate device for every function...camera, phone, mp3 player.... not an all-in-one super weired gizmo. i have a treo 650 that i've tried using a while, went back to a standard phone soon after. sure it can do all these things, but the problem is its not great at any single function. not to mention mac os mobile has extremely limited support @ this point, hardly enough for MS Mobile to shake a stick at. and what bugs me the most is that the Meizu M8 is cheaper, and better (feature-wise)....and it is considered to be a "clone" ...yeah. whatever.

It IS a knockoff straight from China. But yeah, some specs are better.

oh and Meizu also copied the iPod - http://www.anythingbutipod.com/archi...yer-review.php

The design falls short on originality; the design is definitely influenced by the iPod and the Nano.

On subject; apple employees including temp employees of at least a year of service don't just get any iPhone, they get the 8GB version!

wheres the "I'm not getting one, and I don't plan on getting one anytime soon" option? Cause I'd vote for that.

ahhh i had a job offer about a year ago sell phones for cingular.. i don't know if it was a 3rd party or corporate store though...too bad, cause i wont be BUYING an iphone until version 2 comes out.

also did you check out the service plans? i don't know if the data plan for existing customers is going to be part of that mandatory 2 year commitment.. an extra $20/mo on top of $600 for the device is just too much for a phone...

but yea, im going tomorrow at 6 to check it out, see if its worth the hype.

Especially since most 1st gen stuff sucks anyways. 2nd gen is the way to go after most bugs are kinked out.

Considering the way you buy gadgets I fully expected you to be getting one, but I guess not if you consider it overhyped.

I'd never use half the features but damn if I don't want one. And I hate cellphones to begin with. The internet features are the big draw for me, however.

heh, or the "I'm paying down student loans, so I'll get one when it falls out of the sky and lands in my pocket" option?
Oh, to be an Apple employee...then it would've fallen out of the sky and into my pocket.

Damn them for not hiring me. :cries:

You aint missing much

To be honest, everything the iPhone does, my n800 or n770 does(Tied with my DUN bluetooth phone), and most likely does better to be honest. Not to mention if it doesn't I can write a program to do it

OverHyped is a severe understatement.

How dare they?!? They require a 2 year contract and don't subsidize the price of the phone? This is stupid--what possible advantage is there to subscribe (for 2 years) to Cingular/AT&T's substandard EDGE then? Yeah, I'm a bit bitter about this.

I wish i could get one, but since I am on Verizon, that isn't going to happen anytime soon.
