Mac OS X on my 9300?

Thread Starter
I've heard about this osx86 project in which people get mac os to run on their intel machines. I know it is possible for alot of pc's, but has anyone here done this and can tell me how well everything operates, and what drivers are available for this type of thing. Basically, any info will be helpful.

Works excellent on 9300 and 9400 if you know what you are doing.

ditto. I'm sure I could get it to work if i could be bothered to tinker with it more. I'm not quite sure what I would do with it though other than rub it in the faces of the Mac users who spent triple what I paid for their mediocre MacBook Pros....

512 MB cards arent really supported yet as full res. maybe a workin version of 10.4.10 will fix this, but I can confirm my 9400 with the 7900gs and t2350 as well as the upgraded t7200 and 2500m both work, but the 2500m doesnt support full 1920x1200 res. If you have any questions, send me a PM. I have some good links for ya, but the mods might not approve unless you are all mac developers

Works fantastically on my E1705. MacFUSE allows me to read/write on my XP partition. The 2500M and 512MB vid cards will work(and the go 8 series )if you use cough*NvidiaEFI*cough. You can only use one core(if you have a Core) on all Dell laptops because suprise, Dell's ACPI is way off standards. But you should get around 60% of performance in comparison to a Power Mac G5(aka 62 on Xbench). And if you have a x1400,don't bother. You are limited to 1400x500 and there is much tearing and the GUI is slow. I know because I had a x1400 till a month ago. Sound is good, but the speakers don't mute when you plug in your own headphones/speakers. To the surprise of my Mac using friend, the volume and mute front buttons work. .10 is a pain to install because you have to do some removal/replacement-of-files action. But I refuse to tell anything that involves bittorent because I don't want Apple to sue this site. It's quite useful, after all. Cheers.

Remember, this is all purely academic. I'm using Jas' last update, the 10.4.9 Combo. No plans to upgrade to .10 till Targa updates AppleHDA to .10. After all, I'm not buying a i(would've-been-impressive-2-years-ago)Phone,so I don't need the new version of QT. Whoops, I meant http://www.macvidia.com/index.php?op...=67&board=34.0 NVject. Use boot.Apple.plist if NVject doesn't work. Enjoy.

Looks like most of the people here have the Core2duo do they don't need to apply the SSE3 patch

What's this about a SSE3 patch? Do you mean that since we have SSE3 support, we don't have to use Semethex's SSE3 emulation?

did you have to use the bios mod for the card to get it to work? mine only gives me one resolution choice and setting apple.pboot or whatever to 1920x1200x32 still doesn't seem to work. Im about to do a fresh install. send me your install options that got it to work if you could please.

Yes, as I understand it, the patch is only required for processors that do not support SSE3. This was a big deal when OS X first came out with intel hardware as many PC processors only supported SSE2 such as the Pentium M. I am not into the whole osx86 community at all but since I'll be able to play with a core 2 duo soon I may look into it a little. Also, I think semthex's patch translates the SSE3 calls into SSE2 but since I'm on dialup I cannot confirm this.
