If you're lucky and it comes tonight then please don't be shy... Post some pics/comments/first impressions. I need more m9750 material to tie me over til next week.

tbbz, are you still using it right out of the box? i think a clean reinstallation of windows xp will give you improvements all across the board. try updating drivers as well, as they will give you performance benefits.

by the way, thanks for the great pictures of the power brick, its not nearly as large as the one i had for my aurora m7700.

Yeah I'm still using it right out of the box.

I am not a benchmark type of guy. The system is serving all my needs excellently right now, so I don't want to mess anything up by reinstalling XP. Thanks for the suggestion though, I'm sure it would help.

Does the bottom look like the 9700? I found a pic of that but no 9750 on the AW site.

Thanks!

Alienware cancelled my 766, so probably get a 9750 with my credit.

Nice machine!

I haven't tried watching a DVD yet, so I can't really tell you that for sure, but overall the fans are fine. Only when I start up a game or a big application, especially if other games/big applications are running, will they go very loud, but even that only lasts until the application/game is finished starting up.

All in all I'm quite satisfied with how efficiently this machine handles heat.

Again, I play games with sound very fine, but I haven't watched a DVD yet. What I did see Live Free or Die Hard yesterday, which had Alienwares in it, but that was on the big screen.

the bottom is identical to the m9700 case... i didnt notice any difference in the noise of the fans while running a DVD with my m9750

As I said before, the laptop runs pretty warm, but definitely not to the point of overheating. The temperatures I got with Speedfan are HD0: Varies from about 32C to 40C Temp1: Varies from about 54C to 61C Core0: Varies from about 45 to 55C Core1: Varies from about 45 to 55C I am no expert, but I don't think it's overheating. Battery life is about an 1 to 2 hours, depending on what I'm doing.

Looks normal to me, same as what I get on my 5550i and MacBook.

Do you know if Hypersonics Aviator EQ7 is a better deal? Sure seems like it to me....

The EQ7 is the Clevo 900c. Not the same machine at all.

Both are 17", both are SLI, with 7950gtx cards. From there, things are different.

The Clevo is 12+ pounds, the 9750 is about 8.5
The alienware is thinner.
The Clevo has a desktop processor, the Alienware a notebook processor. You will get better benchmark scores from the clevo, but desktop processors are hotter, and consume more power than a notebook one.
The clevo supports 3 Hard Drives. The Alienware 2.

It is more along the lines of what you are looking for. The Alienware suits me better, as it is thinner, and lighter. I actually DO travel with my laptop a fair amount. Weight and size are important.

Remember that a computers 'use' and 'deal' is more than just benchmarks.

I think the area 51 is a better deal personally. The m9750 is 1.5 inches, the EQ7 is 2.4 inches. And like said before, I'm sure it gets hot enough with two video cards, but having a dual core desktop processor will really make it way too hot. I also compared the "complaints/issues" with the m9700 (which is very similar to the m9750) and the m7700 (which is an old clevo model) and the m7700 had massively more issues and complaints. I need to use this laptop for work as well as games so I don't want something that will be prone to issues, especially when I'm paying almost 4 grand for it. To top it off, the m9750 looks much nicer in my opinion... As for warranty, I have not owned an Alienware computer long enough to determine if it is good or not.

200 pins.. I have some Geil 2 gigs coming today UPS hopefully it will arrive soon..
Thanks for the info guys... I have narrowed it down to the M9750 or the EQ7.... depends on if i want to pay an extra 500-1000 for a thinner laptop :P. Also how long is your battery life Tbzz?
