Sweet! 12000 3dmark05 beats any other notebook i'v seen. Just a quick note, as i hear this a lot.

Although the display is absolutely gorgeous for gaming and media, it will take some getting used to for simple tasks like browsing the web or going through folders, since the text size is very small.

Its very simple to correct this, and its included with Windows.
Open Display from the control panel, click the settings tab, then advanced. on that General tab you will see DPI setting with a default of 96 DPI, try changing this to 110 to 120 ish for a UXGA screen.

this way you can keep the UXGA res but just raise the DPI, this will not effect your gaming in any way =)

this shold solve your "small text" problem. PS this function works MUCH better in VISTA, but they still dont support SLI, so dont upgrade yet =)

Thanks for the review i was in the middle of making a decision whether to get this Laptop or not and these pics etc have convinced me that Alienware is the way to go. I have ordered my Area 51 m9750 and it is currently in Phase 4. With expected delivery on 15th September . Thanks again.

I would like to give a small follow-up to this review.

I have used this machine every day for over 8 months.

Some paint has unfortunately chipped off the hinges, but every other aspect of the machine is holding up very nicely. Fingerprints and smudges are almost non-existent; there are only one or two distinguishable fingerprints on the entire machine. In addition, the cooling system has been superb. I have not yet experienced a single error, freeze-up, or shut down due to overheating.

3DMark05 and 3DMark06 benchmarks (as of today, March 11, 2008) are as follows:

3DMark05

3DMark06

I assigned your benchmarks on the first page.

Was the first page borked before you assigned benchmarks?

Yes. That's what happens when people don't use NBF image hosting and don't renew their domains. sucks but we're working on it.

Thanks for assigning the benchmarks, Steve@NBF.

My apologies for not attaching the images through NBF image hosting, the attachment manager did not allow my images due to filesize.

With that said, did the images not show up? I had them hosted on my own paid domain and they should be working.

Thanks.

Yeh they show up now.

We're releasing a new way to host images soon so people don't have to use their own domains. Should be up in a few days.
