well seeing as G3 is already fairly common in europe and asian markets, and just starting to show up in the US (currently many companies are using 2.5G), it will just be a matter of time before G3 comes here, video phone calls and all (i have SE V802 which has that function, although useless with the current Tmobile network). besides that...phones w/ sim cards make life a hell lot easier. especially when it comes to updating phones... no longer must you go through the provider, just grab yourself a GOOD phone on ebay or somewhere.
I was talking about 3G, as in third generation.. and trust me, I know a wee bit more than the average bear about cell phones. GSM is very limited, CDMA is the future
