Of course, if you only need/want your phone for making calls, why would anyone spend any money on a cell phone? You can get those for free.

Personally, I like being able to use my phone to locate where I am, check the traffic instantly where I'm at (to see if I should take a surface street instead when the freeway slows to a crawl), look up where I can find some good sushi within blocks of where I am, return an urgent email from a client, listen to the latest news podcast while on the go, and respond to notebook forums posts. All in something that's barely over a 1/4" thick and fits easily in my pocket.

If it's out of your price range, I wouldn't get one. Fortunately, money's not much of an issue these days, so I get the toys I want that help me run my business and entertain me at the same time... that's what I get from my iPhone. And I can write it off on my taxes.

Anyone that hates on inanimate objects like this kinda makes me wonder what's going on... it's a really odd thing to get so worked up about.

Or were you just being silly? That's cool too, but it's hard to tell.

I like all these features (especially the "sort of" GPS) when walking around--ever been lost in Little Italy at night down in lower Manhattan?

BUT, I've come to the realization that battery life is King. My Samsung has about 40 billion more features than my old Nokia...but...I need to charge it up every 2 days, and it's talk time is measured in a small number of hours. It's that damn bluetooth connectivity I have going between it and my car.

I'm being silly. I update my fantasy teams through my cell phone, check for red sox / celtic scores, check my e-mail, IM, search google, go on sR, go on NBF, check for traffic, listen to MP3s, take pictures, take video, watch Sportscenter for a grand total of FREE!!! Yippe!

Out of all the technology I buy, the cell phone is the only thing I'm gonna hold out for until 2030 when I can download/stream 1080p blu-ray discs from my home player while I'm in Italy, while talking on the phone/ordering a pizza and while the phone itself is blowing me. Down with Apple and their overrated, un-upgradable, un-take-the-battery-out smudgy piece of shit.

You'll be watching 720p on Nvidia's new cell phone soon.

Very cool.

Glad to see the iPhone finally got developers interested in producing some bad-ass mobile phones. Competition is GOOD.

Windows Mobile has been able to listen to Sirus since 2005 and for free....but, Sirius XM didn't create the program for windows mobile. Awesome app, worth the money too.

iPhone vulnerable to hacker attacks

Bummer!

"Security experts have uncovered flaws in Apple Inc's iPhone that they said hackers can exploit to take control of the popular device, using the tactic for identity theft and other crimes.

Users need to be warned that their iPhones are not entirely secure and Apple should try to repair the vulnerability as soon as possible, they said at the Black Hat conference in Las Vegas, one of the world's top forums for exchanging information on computer security threats."

iPhone sucks ...

"... — So What?

If the iPhone is inaudible, unconnected, on fire and out of battery, why is the thing so popular?..."

Hilarious in part article!

cheers ...
