Nice Trama.

That's a very nice video. And a very nice phone.

I'll wait until the feature set improves a bit before I buy, though. I'm okay with AT&T; they're my current provider.

That's the main reason why I don't want it. I have Verizon right now. I don't plan on switching any time soon.

I got one as well

My contract with Cingular/ATT was up two months ago but I had been going month to month waiting for the Iphone to come out to make my decision on wheter to get a different phone, the Iphone, or switch carriers.

I worked late on Friday and did not want to deal with all the people in the ATT stores or drive out to an Apple store that night.

So on Saturday I went to my closest ATT store and looked at all of my upgrade phone options then did the stupid thing of playing with the Iphone and got hooked. But they had sold thier last one a few hours before I got there.

I then went to an Apple store and they were very busy. I stood around a table to try to get a chance to play with an Iphone agian to make sure that I "had" to have it. While waiting one of the employees asked if she could help me and I told her that I wanted to see the WIFI work and listen to the speakers. She pulled out the Iphone that she recieved that morning and showed me the features. I then asked if they had anymore phones and she said that they had some 4G left and I said sold.

Got home, updated Itunes, registered the phone, the Iphone showed that it was activated, my sim card in my Razr became unactivated all within minutes of registering my Iphone.

Been happy since! And it has been a great conversatiion piece were ever I went this weekend.

My coworker told me its second only to a puppy as a conversational "in" with chicks.

Apparently the iPhone has twice the resolution of a computer screen.

Has anyone seen this video on their iPhone? Or is it one of the millions and millions that aren't going to be available in H-264 format...

It does when you use resolution to mean density and not physical size, though even then it's not really twice compared to most new monitors, especially laptop monitors. The iPhone screen is 166 DPI, a 15.4 inch laptop screen at 1920x1200 is around 133, IIRC. However, Windows has a fixed resolution so it will display everything as if it's on a 96 DPI screen and OS X displays everything as if it's a 72 DPI screen, this is why text gets smaller the larger your screen gets because the OS isn't compensating for the higher DPI. This is where resolution independence comes in handy because no matter how big or small your screen is in pixels you can set everything to display at the same size different screens with different physical resolutions.

I hear it also has three times the computing power of Deep Blue and jerks you off while you sleep.

I've had Cingular/AT&T for 3-4 years now and I've never hit a deadzone except next to a research lab in Somerville, MA. But I think that might be something they do in the lab. In any event, it was a smart move by Jobs because Cingular/AT&T is the cell service provider in the U.S. More customers = more $.

at&t uses TDMA and GSM which are not ideal/ancient if you ask me. CDMA will most likely become the de facto standard eventually, unless Qualcomm decides to try something new. GSM is just way too old to keep up with today's expectations. It always cracks me up to hear people tooting the GSM horn. Granted, it makes life easier to travel, but you can't do jack with it except basically talk.

and some people might want to do some research on multiplexing/demultiplexing.. CDMA (code division multiple access) and TDMA (time division multiple access) use different methods to make the most use out of given RF bandwidth. It is impossible to use a phone utilizing TDMA on a CDMA network and vice versa.
GSM is not a form of multiplexing/demultiplexing, it's a cell phone system someone (no clue who) thought up to make travelling with a cell phone easier. GSM functions basically the same way as DNS and is handy when it comes to travelling, but must be dumbed down to make the most use of an ancient system. From what I've read GSM is allegedly going to make some sort of 3G network, but with their extremely limited bandwidth I don't see how they're going to keep up with companies utilizing CDMA.

When he said that I wasn't sure if I didn't understand what he meant or if he just screwed up.

but wow what good customer support!
from Apple, I'm fairly certain the same thing wouldn't happen with at&t "support". They're pretty notorious for sucking

These people must be really rich or just hate the iPhone.

Smashing iPhone with hammer and nail
I can't see it at work, but is it the same ones that smash nearly every other product when it first comes out? I've seen them do the ps3 and Wii before and seeing the look on other peoples faces is pretty hilarious.
I think they're crazy though..
that PS3 chainsaw one was fake. it was only the box. but the real one was the guy who ran out of the store right after he bought it and smahed it on the ground.
