yeah, the ones where they wait in line and smash them outside in front of people that are still waiting..

and looks like the iPhone will never make its way into the business world..

just what I thought
over 5000 iphones for sale on fleabay alone and according to Apple they estimate about 500,000 were sold.

definitely smells like another ps3

Works in our corporation of 50K + people...imap over SSL...

and I wouldn't compare to a PS3...they had plenty of stock on hand and no one died getting one...
the ones on ebay are copy cat auctions attempting to fool people into thinking there are none to buy...you can get it online at the apple store (2-4 week wait) or go to an apple/att store. There is no lack of product at all...

Apple Rises After ISuppli Analysis Says 8 Gigabyte IPhone Margin Is 55 Percent
...
Hargreaves estimates about 300,000, though other estimates range from 500,000 to 750,000,

Steve Jobs is a Genius.
For those who need the raw numbers, that means Apple made in excess of $100,500,000 profit over the weekend, and thats conservative.

Btw, iPhone is on my Christmas wish list.
hopefully the price is down by then. giving Jobs $381 profit (per phone) is just insane..
They still have to pay back the cost for development, which was likely more than $100 million (guesstimate). At this rate they should achieve that by next weekend.

umm, calculator time DO2G..
using an averaged as reported by engadget.com profit of $350/phone (assuming the vast majority of people bought the 8 Gb model) and multiplying by lower than reported sales of 500,000 units over the weekend, old Jobsy made a $175 million profit just last weekend.. that should easily cover R&D..

GSM is not a form of multiplexing/demultiplexing, it's a cell phone system someone (no clue who) thought up to make travelling with a cell phone easier. GSM functions basically the same way as DNS and is handy when it comes to travelling, but must be dumbed down to make the most use of an ancient system. From what I've read GSM is allegedly going to make some sort of 3G network, but with their extremely limited bandwidth I don't see how they're going to keep up with companies utilizing CDMA.

well seeing as G3 is already fairly common in europe and asian markets, and just starting to show up in the US (currently many companies are using 2.5G), it will just be a matter of time before G3 comes here, video phone calls and all (i have SE V802 which has that function, although useless with the current Tmobile network). besides that...phones w/ sim cards make life a hell lot easier. especially when it comes to updating phones... no longer must you go through the provider, just grab yourself a GOOD phone on ebay or somewhere.

I lol'd hard. @ABF, we should be getting R-UIM card compatible CDMA phones soon. They've had those for a while in asia.

Ten Reason why iphones suck....hehe
Meh I have no interest in spending that much for a phone, especially when you must have a 2 year data plan with it. Sorry I am not jumping on the latest fad.

. I'll Get to the Apple Store Ahead of You If you've read this far then you've finally discovered the *real* reason I wrote this column. You see, I'm out to dissuade as many people as possible from buying an iPhone so that I have less competition on Friday when I go to get mine. Yep, this entire column is nothing more than a self-serving ruse at giving myself the best chance possible to snag an iPhone on opening day. The fewer people that are interested in the iPhone, the better my chances at getting one! So in this column I've just regurgitated all the usual FUD about the iPhone, Apple, and AT&T in a blatant attempt to discourage you from being remotely interested in buying one. And I want one...make no mistake about it...I want an iPhone...bad! It's all I've been able to think about for the last few days...I've been dreaming of ditching my crappy Verizon phone and holding the sleek, sexy iPhone in the palm of my hand. Yes...I must have one...and I will have one! No matter who or what gets in my way! Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssss....the precioooooooous will be ouuuuuuursssssssssss! So don't even bother to leave your house on launch day to get an iPhone. If you do, you'll find that I got there ahead of you and bought the last one. Muhuhahahahha! Suckers! Did my ruse work? Have you been dissuaded from buying an iPhone? Tell me in the forum.

I'm an Apple fan, but not all that excited about the iPhone. My blackberry, once loaded with Opera Mini (thanks, kraziepop!) - does a fine job with web surfing. I never check voice mail anyway, so that feature would be pointless

lol @ iphones on ebay for $25,000. even funnier are the iphone domain names between 99k and 999k. there is even someone trying to sell the iphone for $1,000,000 and saying the money goes to charity.
Is it a Nigerian charity?

I want one but they don't have the service in Alaska yet

Move to warmer climes?

This could lead you to a spot in an Apple commercial: "Our customers love the iPhone so muchthey even moved out of state to get one!"

I'm typing on my iphone right now. I had no intrest in getting it at first. My sliver went in wash and I was AT&T store trying to do something to fix it. I got to try the iPhone out and I basicly wanted it. Got it. Been loving having internet where every(at&t crud is slow but i can live with it.) when on wifi its fast.

Its a good phone got 4 bars even tho I'm in a basement right now. Quality off calls are great. iPod nuff said. Typing is so easy.
It needs java and flash player.
