40C + too hot for S96j?

I've had my S96j for about 6 months now and have loved every minute of it. But recently, I don't know if it's because of summer or just because it's been broken in a little bit, but the palmrests have been getting WARM. And I mean noticeably warm as in it wasn't this warm before and now it's giving me a mad case of sweaty palms (it's embarassing to have to wipe my hands on my shirt before I greet someone).

I'm running Speedfan and it shows an idle temp of about 40C - 42C. I know this shouldn't be too bad, but has anyone else had similar problems? I was hoping there was a way to maybe clock down the cpu's or something to keep the heat down. Or maybe I should just get a notebook cooler?

Any helpful suggestions would be much appreciated.

S96j - w/ ATI Radeon Mobility x1600
C2D T5600 1.83ghz
1024mb DDR2
Toshiba MK8034GSX 80gb HDD

40-42C is great for a notebook. a possible solution might be to put one of those little gel wrist rests on the computer while you're typing so your palms won't get sweaty.

Thanks for the suggestion Djembe! I had a feeling the temp wasn't too much a problem - I was just worried because it didn't used to get that warm just a few months ago. I'd be able to use it hours on end, sweaty palm free! I'll see about getting some of the gel wrist rests.

LOL. I cant believe u think 40C is hot for a laptop. well it isnt. with my custom made notebook cooler i made has the temp go to about 37C. without it u are looking at 40-60C in temp. so that 40C is low. Great laptop if thats what the temp is at when playing games. ? if not then thats not too good. cya.

the ambient temperature seems to have a lot to do with how hot the case gets. on my notebook, for a given cpu temperature, a hot day in the house will heat the case up like crazy.

Trying running your notebook in a heavily air-conditioned building (like, when you have to wear a jacket because they keep it so cold), and you might notice a big difference

Usually I get 51 during idle and 60 during gaming. Ive had mine for a yr now, and mine isnt that bad.

I wish I have an idle of 40. I usually get an Idle around 50 and around 70+ for gaming.
