It's the successor to the WXGA+ screen and appears to have identical specs bar the resoluion. It seems likely to me we'll see the new screen in a Sager this month or next, bureaucracy permitting.
I believe this eurocom phantom thing suggests a 64bit clevo coming up too, but that's neither certain or imminent.
Yeah, I had seen the HP larger 17" screen post. Now, for the issue specifically related to this thread... will it be possible to see an AMD64, hi-res 17" Sager?
I have NO idea how manufacturers work, but something I have noticed across the board is that the "customization" procedures are never cross-branded. If the basic chip is Intel, your options are Intel; If the basic one is AMD, your options are AMD.
I think it's highly likely that there are politics involved in here, of the type "exclusive commitment" of one model with one chip supplier. If this is something I should have realized AGES ago, maybe I'm the equivalent of an 8088 XT and it's time for a brain upgrade...
