Notebook CPU Upgrade - Possible?

Thread Starter
I have a notebook featuring a Intel t2350 cpu. It's a nice piece of equipment but lacks speed for my purposes (Photoshop editing) and a boost would be welcome...

What would be a good CPU upgrade for me? Could I get a Core2Duo into this baby?

Thank you in advance,

Olga

hope I posted in the right place...

Well, physically, it should fit. However, there are a couple of issues that may prevent it from working or reduce the effectiveness of an upgrade.

First, your computer must have a BIOS that allows for installation of a Core 2 Duo processor. To find that out, you should check with your computer's manufacturer.

Second, your current processor has a front side bus (FSB) speed of 533 Mhz, which is slower than the typical FSB speed of 667 Mhz for both Core Duo and Core 2 Duo processors. This could mean that you'd need a Core 2 Duo CPU with 533 Mhz FSB (which tend to be OEM budget models and are somewhat hard to find) or that a standard Core 2 Duo CPU could downclock (for example, a 2 Ghz CPU may run at 1.6 Ghz) due to the slower multiplier speed in your system.

So it is possible to upgrade your Core Duo to a Core 2 Duo, but I'm not sure how likely it is to accomplish what you're looking for (increased speed).
