the go8800 is comeing out soon and so are customers that want dx10 SLI notebooks. so is alienware gona use the same models such as the 9700 and 9750 and just put the new cards in them? or are they going to make another design?

i wanted to get teh 9700 and actualy had money waiting for it but i dident want to waste it on a older dx9 card and ageing amd processor.

anyone know when this will come out? both card and laptop lol

I don't think the m9700 will be continued. it's limited single core cpu would require a new mobo. From things I have heard around the board, the aurora m9700 is probably at an end as far as upgrades go. I don't think, but I am not totally sure , that you will be able to run dx10 cards in the m9700. I don't really think you would want to. Everyone is going multi-core and game developers are begining to take advantage of that.

From the buzz around the board, many have said that the m9750 will be receiving the 8xxx series gpus. Which is in fact what I am waiting on before I order one. The sli notebook platform developed by AW and arima is a really solid performer and I look for it to be around for a while.

I'm pretty sure they'd most likely just modifying the motherboard to fit into the same chassis that the m9700 and the m9750 are built on considering how successful it has been for alienware thus far.

There still is the possibility they'd go for a completely new design, but that'll come when ARIMA (the original chassis manufacturer) actually comes up with a working update themselves first.

yea i bean waiting to order an sli laptop for a wile. i want to get the best i can get but the thing that pisses me off and te reason i dont think they are gona be out for a wile is because their m5550 dosent even have an 8600 yet but the Dell inspran does lol. this means dell makes a better gameing notebook at 15.4 inches than alienware. alienware needs to get its dx10 in order as far as i am concerned and if they cant make an 8600 available how are they gona get a new laptop. i do like the design thou of the 9700/9750 body and still think alienware is a sweet company but they just need to get their santa rosa and dx10 in order.

Yeah Alienware I've noticed isn't always the first out the door when it comes to the implementation of new tech in their laptops, but the extra time they take is well spent to make sure it works and works well with whatever they've got up their sleeve (as in a new system, etc.).

They seem to be the kind of company that wants to make sure it all works on day 1 of it's release rather than take the chance of something being messed up but getting it out early (at least to me anyway).

well ya i agree alienware is an amazing companyand thats y i have the m5550 but like its kinda anoying for me because i have money set aside for a dx10 sli notebook and they dont have one. they dont even have an 8600 in their laptop and it has bean out for how long? i know the 8800's arent out yet but i think alienware needs to put more attention into getting laptop parts and models instead of makeing breakthoughs like the amazing 5000 dollar 9750. i can get a good setup for 2800 on their 9700 but that would be a waste because all of their laptops are useing old parts. the 7 series is old, the core 2 duo is old. santa rosa is out and so is most of the 8 series and the best high performance laptop company on the planet useing last gen technology is just lame becasue by the time they get all the parts in their laptops they are gona be old lol. and takeing time is good but in the computer industry too much time means that by the time your product has the parts you intended it to have... they are out dated

I don't think the 8600 has been out that long, plus it helps to have a little patience

its bean out actualy quite a wile and i have vista so my 7600 is running slower so i wanted to upgrade to an 8600. let me tell you something. you dont get an alienware so that you can play games on lowest setting.

Then partition the harddrive and reload XP, Vista sucks for games. Plus it might help to type your reply in MS Word then press F7 then copy and paste

it might help if i spend like over 100 on vista and then it working. also can you read my typing? i think i type just fine and if you cant read it or it bothers you so much to see spelling errors then get the hell out of my post eh? i'm not spending 20 mins spellchecking this. i get an alienware to play games. its not good at playing them and i see a solution that is not being looked into and i would like it to be end of story. if you can understand 1337speek then you can understand this but then again you probably cant so nvm

I can understand nerd talk just fine but your spelling is terrible bro. I'm just trying to help a brutha out

I agree vista sucks... even the 7950 cards are slower on vista until they work out the bugs and with microsoft this will take forever. You can get Vista but i agree you need to partition your drive with XP on it to play games faster...

but yea i think that a new OS should be faster not slower like come on lame me out you feelin me?
Yeah I partitioned my XP harddrive on my 9700 for Vista but started running out of space so had to delete it. I was kinda impressed with the system but from what I've heard the gaming isn't that great.

Plus on your 9750 they should be able to slap in the 8800's cards right? I'm thinking of selling mine and getting a new 9750
post #16 of 53
load your recovery cd and restart your computer and there is an option to partition your drive into what ever configuration you want..then you can load XP on there hope this helps you...

Everybody is thinking that the m9750 will be able to support the 8800 cards but alienware hasnt said they can yet..

How big is your harddrive in your laptop? I just started using Partition Magic and it is sooo easy to use. Very very nice

i dont have the 9750 lol i have the m5550. how do i go about partitioning my hardrive? and i want to sell my m5550 and grab a newer sli laptop but no santa rosa no dx10 you know. i have half the cost of the 9750 i want but i dont want to waste money on last gen technology and dont want to spend it on something that may or may not be upgradeable because the processor is not upgradeable.

but if you let me know how to partition the hard drive please let me know lol
post #19 of 53
