Smart decision or wasted money?

Ok I have had my Gen 2 for 2 years now and its running perfect with a 7800 gtx graphics card. I got a notice in the mail that my warranty was up in a week so I extended it today. For $400 I extended full warranty including accidental damage complete care. Money well spent? I dont have the money atm to buy a new m1710. I know if this ever breaks I will get a M1710 free so that is great.

Was it worth the $1.10 today for your peace of mind? Because that's what it cost you. . . .

Actually that would be for 1 year extended, my warranty is now extended until 7/8/2010 so its much less a day than that. I guess it was worth it.

It only seems wasted until you have to use the Warranty lol

Obviously you aren't going to appreciate it until it's used, as "technically" it's wasted then, even though you really got safety from it.

It's way better to "waste 300-400" than see 2000-3000k(at the time of purchase) machine going down the drain. Complete Care/atleast limited warranty is definately worth it IMO/IME(atleast for Dell).

$400 for a $2000 laptop is worthwhile in my opinion since laptops are inevitably prone to accidental damage by their very nature. They are also more likely to crap out due to overheating or other non-accidental issues that are covered by the required extended warranty.

For a desktop, the calculation is different, in my opinion, since they are less likely to fail and, if they do, they are easier and cheaper to fix (and often upgrade rather than using the original component) yourself.

ur less likely to drop a desktop or something...spill coffee on ur desktop keyboard and ur outta keyboard...try that on ur laptop...

considering how Dell replaces people's systems entirely sometimes I think it was money well spent.
