Acer Aspire 4310 doesn't support Win Xp sp2

Hi there, anyone knows how to install win xp sp2 for acer aspire 4310 ? I installed win xp into acer 4310 but half way when windows wants to start, it says it cannot find any hard disk. Anybody can help ?

the file that u are looking for is iastor.sys
i have an acer 4710 driver for ahci sata 7.tried to install xp pro sp2 but half way thru it asked to reinsert the driver from a floppy.still doesnt work.email me if u wanna try the 4710 drivers for ahci sata 7.

First of all, the problem you're facing is because your hardisk is a SATA hardisk. You therefore need some SATA drivers and the files has to be installed from an external USB Floppy drive before any WinXP SP2 installation is possible.

I think windows xp sp1 doesn't support webcam drivers, even the audio bus HD drivers. One of the computer technician told me that i should switch to xp sp2. my laptop is acer 4710 and i can now use the webcam.

acer 4710 is already a vista ready, therefore installing xp sp2 needs hard work!!!

First, you have to change your BIOS version to xp sp2. you can do it by downloading ISO file(for 4710) from http://komku.blogspot.com/2007/08/in...pire-4710.html

*burn this file to a cd using ISO burner software ( juz download one!).

After burning the cd, Start the laptop with the cd. (It will autimatically update your BIOS). Your screen wud appear witha blue background and yellow fonts)!

After updating, ur pc witt reboot/restart/
Press F2( BIOS settings).
In manin menu tab, you will able to find the option called sata mode, by default it is in AHCI mode, press enter to make it in IDE mode.
Press F10 & save ur settings. Now you can now boot from windows xp sp2 cd & it is ready to insatll windows xp!!!!
