Which one: m1210 or macbook

just selling my Macbook pro, and i think i want something smaller.

the choices are a range of dell m1210's from the refurb outlet, which is fine with me. anywhere from 800-1100$ from there.

or another macbook. i had a macbook before the MBP, and it was nice, i just dont know if i want the same thing again. the macbook would be similarly priced/spec'ed.

what do you all think? the 1210 has the option of the 7400, i just dont really game a whole lot, maybe unreal 2004 every once in awhile. i think the 7400 would help with resale, along with a 9cell battery.

just looking for some opinions. please dont turn this into OSX vs XP, i could care less, i know how to handle both

You'd probably be happier with the Dell as it's smaller and less expensive. The M1210s also don't have a problem with overheating, "mooing," or the palm rests turning an ugly brownish-yellow color.

both machines are reall comparable size wise. the apple is slighly longer and wider, but much shorter. The two apples ive had had no such problems with overheating, and the mooing was just a simple software change.

its just a hard decision. Both are priced the same for the same specs, if i buy the apple ill just sell the free ipod.

decisions decisions. i think im leaning towards buying the 1210, and if i dont like it, ill return it.

My friend has gone through 3 mac book pros in 1 1/2 years. He leaves it on his desk at all times, so theres no moving it. Its been replaced from poor construction issues w/ the front panel and on problem w/ his HD. The 3rd replacement i cant remember, but he says Apple got him in and out in 30min for each replacement.

Have you checked them both out in person? That way you can tell things like screen quality, build quality, and quietness and other "subjective" things...

P.S. no offense, but you go through notebooks like crazy :P

i agree with the post above, check it first in shops in that way you can choose.

for me, i'll choose the m1210 over the macbook.
