MP3 Player for 8886

I am still trying to decide on what machine to get, and while I am not totally decided, I am leaning towards the 8886. ONe of the thousands of questions I have is about the MP3 player

What dimensions is the player?

Does it accept memory cards from other manufacturers???

Anyone have feedback on it in its practical use??? I am a runner and would love a new MP3 to go with the notebook

Thanks for the help

I can answer a couple of those questions:

The size is roughly similar to two PC cards glued front to back.

It will only accept SD cards, although there are at least two manufacturers of these kind of cards: Panasonic and SanDisk

As for skipping, feedback, or any other problems with playback, I'm afraid I can't help.

Hi Tango. I too am a runner and the MP3 player included with the 8886 was a definate plus for me.

I just ordered my notebook and (hopefully ) will get it early next week and then I can give you some accurate information.

I can tell you from my experience running with an RCA lyra player that they do not skip and the sound quality is good.

SD memory cards are becomming as common as mud and the prices for them are dropping. Check newegg.com for prices or do a web search.

I am hoping that this player appears to the computer as a removable disk so that MP3 files can simply be dragged and dropped to it. That Lyra junk only played copy protected files (not real MP3 files)and that forced the use of the RCA supplied software.

Two PC cards attached front to back??? Sorry that confuses me a bit. Anyway you can describe that in another way???

My wife also has the RCA Grrrr it is not the most convienent thing to use. Do let me know about the 8886 I am really leaning in that direction and hope to buy before the holidays.

What is the turn around time from time of order to delivery??? While nosing around on the Dell site it was like 3 weeks until the shipping date

Thanks

The Sager 8886's MP3 player does show in Windows as a removable drive and all you have to do is simply drag your MP3's to the players (of course as long as you have your SD memory card in the player).

Oops...

I meant to say 'two PCMCIA cards.' By 'front to back' I meant, well, stacked on top of each other.

Ummm... Does that help?

As far as the MP3 player's size, I would say it is about the same size and thickness as a deck of cards if that helps. Where that image came to mind to describe, I don't know

batteries?

What does the MP3 player use for power? Regular batteries? If so, what size and how many?

Here's some pics to compare sizes to a Microsoft USB mouse:

It takes 2 AAA batteries for when you're using it out of the notebook.
