Laptops with 8700 GT thread

Thread Starter
I am thinking about an upgrade, so what I am looking for are laptops with 8700 GT Mobility or better graphics *I personally have yet to see anything with 8800 based graphics* I thought it might be nice to have a list going of the laptops with the newest card.

Toshiba
X205

Thats the only one I have found so far.

I am REALLY hoping to find a 15.4" laptop with the 8700 GT card, so if you know of one you can make me pretty happy.

Unless the site just hasn't been updated, I'm not seeing the 8700 GT anywhere on the Macbook Pro site.

I'm looking to purchase the Dell XPS M1330, I just wish it came with the 8600 GT or higher.

Does anybody know when the 8800 series for notebooks will arrive?

Isn't the 8700 GT just an overclocked version of the 8600 GT?
I haven't yet seen the technical details for the 8700GT only that it runs at higher frequencies.

Even though it is pretty much just an OC'd 8600 GT, I do not think you could manually overclock your 8600GT to 8700GT performance. The 8600gt vs the 8700gt is kinda like the 7900go gtx versus the 7950go gtx except maybe a bit higher performance gain involved.

Hello all
YES XPS 1730 is OUT Now on dell site
But is it better then the Alienware m9750
from both these which has a better graphic card ?
is true tht the Dell we will be able to upgrade its 8700 to the 8800 cards when they are out ?
If so then isnt the Dell a better buy ?

the 7950gtx vid card still smokes the 8700 GT
post #12 of 17
the alienware m9750 is better than the 1730 by a long shot with the 8700 cards are not as good as the 7950's...the only way the 1730 is going to beat the m9750 is if you get the exteme processor but that 4500 bucks, but there may not be much difference then...plus the m9750 can have 640 gigs of space compared to 400 gigs maxed out on the 1730...

Ok looking at long term

Xps 1730 wil be upgradble
But the Alien 9750 is not

Then which is Better ?

& i spoke to Alienware they said they dont

Then how do u say it is ?
alienware is about to release the 8xxx cards to the m9750...

Do you guys think two 8700M cards (SLI) will outperform one go7950GTX? (Sager NP9261). Can't decide whitch option to take...

How long will the 7950 still be good for, with DX10 starting to show up??
