XPS Sound Quality???

After ordering an XPS then canceling due to the fiasco with the gpu's and the delayed ship dates I am once again reconsidering it. I probably wouldn't be if the Sager 8790 had decent sound without horrible high frequency beeping noises! Anyway, my main concern is the sound quality of the XPS. Please, if anyone could truely tell me the quality of the sound I would be one happy boy! I would like to know EVERY little detail whether it be good, or bad!

THANKS!!

I think the sound on the XPS is really great. It's the best sounding laptop I have heard personally. The sub really helps out with the lows. I have not heard any high frequency glitches at all. Don't expect the same quality as seperate external speakers/sub combo - those little built-in speakers can only do so much.

I second what geed said--It is also the best I've ever owned.

How about through headphones? Also, where are the audio jacks located on the computer?

Excellent--if you have good headphones. I am using sennheiser. Jack is on left side.

Bograth - the sound is incredible. Definately the best you'll get from a notebook. The only thing that comes close is the old Toshiba's that had HK speakers with a built in sub, but the XPS smokes it.

As for jacks, there is line-out and mic-in. Early measurments on the sound quality show -87.6 dB THD, which is pretty darn good. I have heard no noises from it that are typical for a laptop - no IRdA noises, no mouse interrupt noises, no CD or HDD access noises.

Simply incredible. However, remember that it still will not compare to a good set of desktop speakers, but you can always hook those up through the analog jack or go with something like the new Logitech Z640's hooked up through the SPDIF port.

I don't think the Saeger can compare. If you have not seen it, go get the Maximum PC from this April. The XPS waxes everyone (including A51 and Voodoo).

Just my $0.02.

The sound from the Dell 9100 and XPS should be same I assume. I'm just checking out notebooks and the 9100 looks interesting, and not really a lot bigger and heavier than lots of other notebooks.

what about this... do you guys think the sub will work when the battery craps out?
I don't think so..... how could it work with no power?
Or do you mean when the Battery has run out of useful life? Well that will take a year or so, and isn't the sub changeable? So you can put it into a new battery? Connections and all that should remain intact so I can't see why i wouldn't work, even if battery dies.
