Best Gaming Notebook? (Price not an option)

Thread Starter
Being out of the loop on all the mobile graphics cards out there today... What is the best laptop for gaming money can buy right now? size and weight are irrelevant just all about raw power and graphically stunning. Thanks for any insights ahead of time.

whereas such a system would most likely be 12lbs and 17" wouldn't you be better off w/ a desktop?

but that said... i am sure some decent options will be posted shortly.

although not hte most powerful, Asus G2s looks pretty nice.

the absolute king of the laptops right now for gaming is the alienware m9750. sli, dual core, what is there not to love...
I be getting one of those soon

fully optioned alienware dual core, sli $6000+

This one has the new 8700 M GT, so would probably be better than the Alienware (which is 7950 in SLI) for games:

I think NOT.

Sager offers 20'inch gaint screen, Core2Duo + SLI. Alienware offer 17'inch quad-core with overclock ability, SLI enabled. Hmm Alienware still the winner. I'm lazy to check out the Voodoo's laptops.
Alienware doesn't offer a quad-core processor for its notebooks yet.

As far as the 8700m GT goes, the 7950 GTX still ****s all over it, even though it's not a Dx10 card. The current Dx10 mobile series cards pale in comparison against the 7800 GTX, 7900 GTX and 7950 GTX, when it comes to running current games. The 8700m GT is a disappointment. I can only hope the 8800m will come out soon.
Can the 7900 GTX and 7950 GTX be replaced later with the 8800m when it comes out?
anylaptop company that uses the clevo d900 (or whatever its called) base. such as alienware, sager, and many many many other companies.

it uses sli 7950gtx which is about the fastest gfx for laptop right now.

and no the 7950gtx wont be able to be replaced by the 8800 whenever that comes out

and WOW to squidney2k1. there is no 8700M benchmarks (real ones) and according the the clocks provide on nvidia.com it will be marginallbly faster then the 8600M and along the same lines as a 7950gtx.
If G7950 is dedicated GPU card than is possible on some brands. And i recived newletter of alienware quad-core OC for purchase. Sager offers Santa Rosa board, but i think alienware do the same? I don't go 'window shopping' at thier sites anymore.. is pointless since you dont have money... xD
post #13 of 26
Now, why in the world would anybody want to spend $8000 on Alienware or Voodoo when you can get an identical Clevo (minus the 31337 epenis-enlarging paint and lights) for well under three grand? Well, unless you happen to be some spoiled 15 year old brat spending your mommy's money...
even with the m9750 maxed out its doesnt cost 8000 bucks the max would be around 6 grand you might want to check before you make a statement...

Yes, and I'm earning up about half of the money for the notebook, so I'm not too spoiled...

Oops, wrong thread. :P In the other one, I had said nothing over $2.5k, so it would be more like 1k. By the way, since when do we say grams for grands?

If you truly knew anything about graphics cards, you'd realize that it's simply just an overclocked 8600m GT - made very clear by it's clock speeds, stream processors, and it's 128 MB memory interface (god knows why it's still only 128). The 8600 GT couldn't even compete with a 7800 GTX, and you expect a midly over-clocked version to be on par with a 7950 GTX, especially with half the memory interface and smaller memory bandwidth? The card just can't compete with the current top dog (7950 GTX). The only thing it has over the 7950 GTX is that it supports Dx10.
