What PC games do you play?

What pc games do you like so much that you are willing to spend so much for a computer? I am considering getting an m9750 but then I started looking for new games I would want to play with it and none of them seem as good as games I have loved but grown tired of: GTA 3 and HalfLife 2. I am hoping there are games out there that are as good or better and maybe I am just not getting turned on enough by what I read about them.

I am asking here because I suspect the people in this forum are similar to me in that we are old enough and successful enough to afford an Alienware computer.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

I don't play a lot of games that would tax the 9750. I did purchase oblivion JUST for the 9750, so that qualifies.

I do look at it as future proofing (As much as you really can these days). Get the best machine you can afford. The more powerful it is, the longer it'll last you.

lol... I did the same thing By the way, how does it perform on the m9750, and what settings did you end up using?

I got my m9700 as my last desktop was starting to lag a bit, and I needed a small computer while remodeling my home.

I also bought Oblivion just for the m9700, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. also, but I regularly just play GTR2, Counter Strike Source, BF2, BF2142 and GTA San Andreas. I just played through F.E.A.R. again, and can't play at full settings and res on the m9700, but close, so that'll be a good one for the m9750.

I'll be getting a new desktop in time for Crysis and UT2007.

I'd love an m9750, but I can't justify the cost considering the difference in performance between the m9700 and m9750.

Rainbow 6: Vegas would be the *ideal* thing to try out on a m9750 powerhouse. Its graphics look outstanding on higher res levels, and you can add in all these neato bells and whistles (ie: motion blur!)

I borrowed the game from a buddy in the past, but I'm going to buy it this weekend so that it is ready for my laptop!

I have been playing World of warcraft for the past few months after taking a break from August-2006 through March-2007. I had been playing on my Dell XPS M1210 which has a 256mg video card and plays it well. Then two weeks ago I recieved the Alienware mALX and WOW!! What a difference! Playing on the mALX is like being in the WoW World! I love it.

I also ordered Guild Wars and C&C (the most recent incarnation) but have yet to play them. I also have Supreme Commander. I tried it on my XPS laptop but it was a little laggy. I cannot wait to play it on the mALX

Now that I have the mALX I plan on moving all my graphic intensive games like WoW and Supreme Commander to it and will play the sports simulations (Out of the Park Baseball, Diamond Mind Baseball and the like) on the XPS M1210. I also use the Dell laptop for my financial consulting business and it is great.

Sorry to get carried away here. I was just realizing how fortunate I am when I had both laptops setup on my desk and the 20.1 inch widescreen monitor hooked up to my Dell, I will have to show you guys a picture of that Geek heaven as my daughter would say....lol!

One thing you may want to note DST is that the vast majority of laptop owners are completely unable to play many of the top pc game titles due to lack of a dedicated GPU. The m9750 will have no problem playing nearly all the latest titles at either max or near max graphical settings with SLI enabled. This high level of graphic setting makes for a truly amazing gaming experience that otherwise would only be found on a desktop pc. At the current moment I use my m9700 as my desktop pc having it hooked up to a 22" monitor. I play a lot of bf2142. Smiles all around.

Do you use a wheel to play GTR2 Hammer? I just got Logitech's G25 and its nice, but I was never very good at GTR. Got GTR2 on sale and started the driving school but haven't found a lot of time recently. Just wondering if you actually play that complex of a racing sim with arrow keys or what.

I play Warhammer 40,000: Dark Crusade, Command and Conquer 3, HL2, Condemned, Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Painkiller: BLACK and BF2. I'm waiting on Crysis, World in Conflict and BioShock. Condemned, Painkiller: BLACK and Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay although they're old games will still put a strain at max settings on any laptop today which still intrigues me. If you don't believe me try them yourselves.

yes & no...

yes b/c it does look good...but if you have a 24" lcd + (ie. 2407, 2707, or whatever equivalent) the screen is much brighter...

the wuxga screens tend to be less bright than their wxga counterparts/desktop lcd's

my .02 when comparing the 5750 wuxga vs wxga vs gateway 24" lcd

speaking of games i think the all-time #1 FPS Multiplayer game is Battlefield 2...I've been playing since day 1 and the funny thing is I accidenetly found BF2 when I was trying to buy something else..

I walked in EB Games and the guy said "let me guess..Battlefield 2?" I looked up and there is a poster of Battefield 2 with todays date (the release date)...so to not look like a noob I said, "yep, you got it." I took it home and it's been the best game EVER.
