My Gateway was my first computer, a desktop. From about a year there were very small problems, sound wouldn't work one random day. But by playing around with drivers, I got it working again. No program, I thought. But around the third year of ownership, the hard drive failed, and then the motherboard. The power supply had issues too (I always used a surge protector). Just adding memory was problematic because it used a rarer kind than the mainstream.
Than I look at this forum and see the Gateway laptops with the cracked hinges, and I remember my pricey machine and its noname hardware that failed after 3 years.
