Well I just recieved mine today and it seems real sweet so far. When I was close to canceling I really considered the Sager from PC tourqe to be the best alternative. I'll post a review soon, I just have to figure out how to post some pics and screenshots. What drivers are you guys that have your systems? Should I upgrade my drivers for this Radeon 9700 that came with the XPS or not? I also though someone posted that their XPS came with powerstrip installed mine did not.

I'm sure it is, but it's a lot sweeter sitting on your desk than as a link that says "InProduction" (and has for the entire past month....)

Hey Kev,

Couldn't agree more with you...

I'm not sure what other systems to look at...Sager?

Anyway, one rep told me that it's the EE that's delaying my order. She suggested that I cancel and reorder with a P4 3.4 HT non-EE and that I'd get it a week sooner. (She went on to assure me that the EE would be arrive in time to ship the XPS out on 4/30. I'm not sure that I'm convinced of her certainty...)

Here's the rub...I used a 10% off with the one I ordered plus it had some healthy rebates, so the difference is only $300. Man, I'd like to have my cake and eat it too...know what I mean?

Any opinions?

Well, I was told it would go into production early next week, so I'm going to avoid deciding anything at least until then. Like you, I think I got a good price for the system, and from what the "lucky bunch" have been saying it does sound like if you can actually get one it's a really top-notch machine.

I'm gathering that people who own them find the Sagers are a) noisy and b) hot. Although having said that my impression is just from the people posting here in the Dell section - the reporting in the other sections may be less negative, I don't know. Before ordering from Dell I had been looking at Voodoo - I like everything I've seen about them except the $$$.

Like I said somewhere else, I REALLY wish it was practical to just roll your own laptop...

I say ride it out Gadgetgirl and fight for an extra percentage off! I have looked at Alienware (my original choice), Sager, Voodoo, ABS, Cyberpowerinc, etc. For the parts that Dell is putting into it, it's the best deal around. I'd really like to have my system but if it means waiting it out to get the best price and best machine then I can do that.
