That's strange... It must be a bad drive. You should be able to delete all partitions at the beginning of any windows install, then set up new partitions.
For dual boot, you'll need at least two primary partitions. It should ask you how you want to set it up while you're running the pre-install procedures...
You can also use fdisk to nuke the drive if you have XP installed, but I usually use the install disk and just delete all partitions at the beginning of a reload.
