I've posted about this before, but the problem is extremely problematic now.

Heat is concentrated at the gpu and isn't traveling down the heatpipe. Even with low power mode for the ati and underclocking, it's still hard to keep temps under control.

I was advised to contact dell about a spare part for just the heatsink to no avail. They want way too much money for a new or refurb x300.

I was wondering if anyone knew the spare part number for the heatsink/pipe unit, since dell alleges that there's no way to look this up. Maybe I could call spare parts and order this for cheaper.

Or if not, does anyone have a heatsink or card to sell for cheap?

Or even further, if anyone has any ideas for fabricating some sort of homemade heatsink/pipe unit? I don't have much skill in this area, but if there's a relatively simple approach using a common heatsink, I may be willing to go that route. If need be, I suppose I could use arctic silver adhesive epoxy.
