Best Media for MBP 15" 2.2Ghz Superdrive?

I have the New version of the MBP the 15" Model with the new LEd Backlighting. Im a very recent(1 week) switcher from a lifetime of windows.

My question is this. I am looking for the best performing, fastest DVD media for this superdrive. I have been messing around transfering all of my Home vids from DVtape to DVD. I have been using some older Ritek DVD-R 8X Media. I also have some verbatim that I havent tried yet. Anyway, this burn process seems VERY slow to me. I am wondering if it is the program (iDVD) the Superdrive, or the Media.

thanks in advance...loving OS X thus far...

In general burning at the fastest speed possible is not the way to get the best quality recordings.

That is not to say you need to burn at 1x anymore, it depends on your equipment and media, but in general the fastest speed possible is not usually a good idea.

IN as far as specifics of media, that one I leave to others as I can't answer it well, sorry.

Verbatim usually has good reviews. I've found w/ Ritek -RW media that the data isn't very sound over time. I can't speak to Ritek's -R media.

Burn speed does depend on the quality of the media. If it's crap then usually the burner will slow down the burning process to insure a solid recording.

btw chicken, u go to school in 'Cuse?

I think you can check the preferences for iDVD and you can change the burn speed there. I'm not positive though since I don't have a SuperDrive, and it's possible that those settings don't appear until iDVD sees a burner.
