Hello
I just got my Acer Aspire bought from Newegg.com. Specific model: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834115356 . Windows Vista shows the following for my DVD: Optiarc DVD RW AD 7530A ATA Device
Now the DVD drive is able to read properly the 3-4 data dvds (Microsoft Office, backups etc) that tried but it is not able to read any of the movie dvd which work well in my other Acer notebook and my Macbook.
I had bought it for my father in India so while installation I had set the region to be India but thinking that it might be a region problem so I changed my location to US and made sure that the DVD region is set to Region 1.
Still not working. It just keeps on reading the DVD and thats it.
I did some google and they said do a firmware update. I dont know how to do that in Vista. Sorry, a Mac user here.
So before sending it for replacement to newegg, I thought I should double check if its a known issue or the drive is corrupt.
