Seems like it's only for OptiPlex and Latitude lines though. Us Inspiron schlepps still have to deal with them.

/boggle

They are 10+ hours ahead of North America, which means that they are probably online when you are sleeping. Things don't stop when you are not online.

The software is actually more easily available then here.

dm, well we're in the same city what games do you play btw?

I'm from Pakistan, and i can easily guarantee to all of you that games are much more readily available, and accessible in the Indian subcontinent. There is a phenomenon, called piracy, which is not even close to being eradicated.

In a nutshell, that just means that i got my UT2004 copy for less than $6, on DVD, because i believe the original game is on 6 CDs.

Not that i promote it, but i can't find original non-pirated games here. People game a lot over here, but we don't game online because of our crappy internet connections, we prefer LAN cafe's. For example, the internet connection i'm sitting on right now is termed as a cable connection, however, i don't get speeds faster than dial up! At work though, since I work for an outsourcing solutions provider, i have a T3 connection! Which my company pays an arm and a leg for. (and NO, we're not the Dell call center!)

Yeah, I have friends here that are from India. They go back for Holidays every year or two and come back with literally dozens of games! Most are prirated of course, but there are a few originals. They get all the games that we get here in Australia, and North America easily. I think the piracy is so widespread and used there that there is virtually no hope of wiping it out.
As Rao said though, there are very few people with internet connections better than dial-up, and as a result LAN cafes are extremely popular, one of my friends spent most of his time in one there. That's pretty much why you might not see as many of them gaming online (but how do you know you're not playing with them anyway, thats what I want to know )

hmmmmm wouldn't you NOT be able to play pirated games online since you probably won't have a valid cd-key? Unless you pirated someone's real cd-key as well
post #16 of 45
Thats what keygens are for
stu
Actually, most of the time, we don't even need keygens, we just have a modded ini or inf file, if not, we have the cd key in one of the folders in the pirate! Keygens, no cd hacks, modded application launchers, you name it. A dollar a game, and it always works. Shocking huh?

Sometimes, i feel that if our (the subcontinent's) hackers used their energies elsewhere and positively, we wouldn't 3 decades behind the rest of the world.
True...... Although what could be a better use thatn cheap comp games? Lol. Well you may be 3 decades behind now, but you're catching up fast!

I thought the most important part of the interview with Dell CIO Randy Mott was what he said regarding outsourcing Dell's IT needs:

"One area Dell won't be looking at for its own needs is outsourcing. Mott admitted that outsourcing can lead to an "average" IT cost for some firms but said IT is a core part of Dell's business.

"The last thing we want is an average cost structure," he said. "We consider IT a core competency. It is something we look to for sustainable competitive advantage."

He thinks outsourcing is good enough for their customers, but not good enough for themselves. Hmmmmmm.
