Well I'm just annoyed about Sager support not even responding if the following part number on the DC Board is compatible with SAGER 5680 , my unit it's not working on AC power at all, it's not turning on the only way it's actually working it's with the battery on it's bay.
I need to know if this part number 71-56P0C-D03A is compatible with my unit , I can replace the part myself. Thanks

I would not bet on it

According to the service manual, the part is 77-d500c-d0x

Hi gerry I can't happen to find that part at all, googling, can you check if this part would work

SAGER NP5660, NP5620, NP5650, NP5660, NP5670 (5600P, 5600N, 5600D, 5600DS) voltage regulator board (battery charging board), also compatible with part number 71-56P0C-D03A (Part#: 71-56P0C-D03 ) K2

No, it will not.

There was a change in the motherboard from the n5670 to the n5680

Hi gerry I got this from ppl @ sager

I check with repair guy he said very possible is the fuse blow out next to the dc in port on the motherboard, this unit did not have dc board do have a charge board but nothing to do with the problem you have.

David Liu
Sager Notebook Computer Inc.
18005 Cortney CT.

do you thijnk it could be blow fuse ? I'm thinking it could be a blown fuse on the DC board or is there some other SMD FUSE on the motherboard which in fact its not letting the lap turn on AC power?

I would, of course, defer to the tech guy from sager--but I don't see a replaceable fuse next to the DC-in port --if it is integrated on the motherboard, that would necessitate a motherboard replacement, wouldn't it?

As for not having a DC/DC board--service manual calls it that, not a charge board. Again, this guy works on them so he ought to know.

What did he say about the fuse--is it fru (field replaceable unit) or would you have to replace motherboard?

Gerry well I had once reply from the guy from Sager , most of the time this guy David Liu replies but then I didn't hay any other replies. I was searching over google as to replace the SMD Fuse myself , but it's kind of complicated I think.
I sent the battery pack to recycle it so I just crossfingers and hope with the new cells replaced my lap will work fine with the battery placed on it's bay that's the only solution I find to my problem.
Gerry by any chance do you know some place on the net as to buy sager parts maybe I can find the DC/DC board, I can buy it from Sager direct at 40 bucks , but I don't know what to do , cause this guy said it might be a blown fuse near the DC /DC board what would you do?

to the best of my knowledge SMD Fuse means "surface mount device" fuse, which means it is integrated into the motherboard and therefore not a FRU (field replaceable unit)

as for buying the part for $40--I don't know, the sager tech guy says that is not your issue

I thought the dc/dc board handled not only the charging of the battery, but the switching of the power so that the laptop charges or runs off AC...something in the laptop needs to control that function but he seems to think that this board does not do that.

So, I am reluctant to say blow the $40 and see ...

I see you have a request for info on the want to buy forum---maybe buy both the dcdc board and mainboard if reasonable price. Offer him $50 for both and see if he bites...then you can test it.

If it were me, I would just run the laptop with the battery in it. Or, if I knew someone who had a laptop, I'd swap it out and see if the dc board makes a difference.

I probably would not sink more than $50 in a nearly 4 year old notebook, though
