Dell Latitude D500 CPU upgrade, HELP!!!

Thread Starter
Hello Everyone,
I have a latitude D500 with IntelĀ® PentiumĀ® M Processor 1.30 GHz ( http://processorfinder.intel.com/Det...px?sSpec=SL6N4 ). I need to upgrade it to atleast a 1.6 for school (they wont even add me to the domain until i do). I ordered a CPU from ebay, only to find out that the pins dont match (I need a socket 479 not 478). I dont want to make the same mistake again so I need help choosing the right one. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Get a Pentium M 715/725/735/745/755.

They won't let you on the domain??? That's a retarded policy.

having a slow ghz cpu doesn't mean you're technically slower most of the time (example.. 1.6 GHz P-M is comparable to a 2.4-2.6 GHz P-4.. etc.)... why won't they let you onto a network domain if your CPU is slow? doesn't slow down the network last time i checked.
